Vienna's oldest traditional ball celebrates its most loyal composer
Vienna’s Concordia Press Club was founded in 1859 to champion responsible journalism and the freedom of the press. Since 1863 it has organised a sumptuous annual ball for which the Strauss brothers wrote no fewer than 40 works. Johann Strauss 2025 Wien has commissioned a New Concordia
Polka from the astonishing composer Alma Deutscher to be premiered at this year’s ball. She will also lead the orchestra in Strauss’ Feuilleton waltz, first performed at the Concordia Ball in 1865.
